The “Klínky” phenomenon
Wine from the vineyard track of Klínky in the village of Vracov has won the Wine Salon of the Czech Republic five times. What makes this “terroir” so unique?

This is where it all begins, in a vineyard.
This is the most valuable thing a winery has.
Vineyards belong inherently to Moravia. They are a part of the natural wealth of our country, nestling in the landscape like a crown jewel. They carry the heritage of our ancestors, which every wine grower should respect when making wines. Along with our subsidiary company, Vinařství Mikrosvín Mikulov, we currently manage over 500 hectares of vineyards situated in the Moravian Slovakia wine sub-region, Mikulov wine sub-region, and Znojmo wine sub-region.
Every region imparts a different taste and nature to wines, thanks to which they are very diverse.
The vineyard is situated on a south-facing slope with a significant inclination. The soil is modal black earth, which is black earth formed on thick wind-blown loess and sand, with a higher content of lime. The soils are pervious, and the slopes retain heat. These soils bring forth wines with a unique expression, giving wines ripening potential. Their smells are markedly fruit and fresh. Their taste is harmonic and persistent.
The vineyard is situated on the south side of Chřiby and is protected against cold north winds. The slope is west-facing, relatively windy. The soils retain heat and often suffer from drought. The soil in the vineyard is modal brown earth, which is brown earth formed on thick loess and marl, with a higher content of lime. Due to these conditions, which are characterised by a dry climate, and a relatively windy location, wines originating from these locations are juicy, markedly aromatic. The smell is gentle and savoury. Tasting them, you can feel the rougher nature of the country and its fresh fruitiness.
The vineyard is situated on a markedly inclined south-facing slope. The soil is modal black earth, which is black earth formed on thick wind-blown loess and sand, with a higher content of lime. The soils are pervious, and the slopes retain heat. These soils bring forth wines with a unique expression, giving wines ripening potential. Their smells are spicy and rich. The taste is harmonic and persistent.
The vineyard is situated on a southeast-facing slope. The soil is modal black earth, which is black earth formed on thick wind-blown loess and sand, with a higher content of lime. The soils are pervious, and the slopes retain heat. These soils bring forth wines with a unique expression which gives the wines ripening potential.
The vineyard is situated on a west-facing slope. The soil is modal black earth, which is black earth formed on thick wind-blown loess and sand, with a higher content of lime. The soils are pervious, and the slopes retain heat. These soils bring forth wines with a unique expression which gives the wines the ripening potential in the first two years. Their smells are markedly fruit and fresh. The taste is harmonic and persistent.
The Za cihelnou vineyard track is situated on a west-facing slope at the periphery of Mikulov. The soil consists of black carbonate earth with loess and clayey subsoil and is medium fat to fat, with a higher portion of argillaceous particles and good moisture conditions. Along with a high content of active lime contained in the subsoil, they bring forth rich mineral wines with a marked structure and layering the taste while ripening.
The vineyard is situated on moderate slopes of a high plateau just below the peaks of the Pálava Hills. The location is characteristic of south-facing slopes, along with a higher altitude. The soil is fatter here and does not retain heat. It consists of modal pararendzina – soil formed by lime carbonate rock weathering. This soil is poorer in nutrients and has a high content of active lime. Wines from this track cannot be mistaken; they are markedly mineral and structured.
The vineyard is situated on a south-west-facing slope of the Pálava Hills, in the middle of the hillside. The location is thus sloping, with a thin profile of the soil consisting of a thin layer of black carbonate earth with skeletal pararendzina in some areas. This means high active lime soil, poorer in nutrients. Wines from this track are markedly mineral and structured in layers.
The vineyard is situated at the south-facing foot of the Pálava Hills, greatly sloping. This location is thus sloping, with a thicker profile of the soil consisting of a layer of black carbonate earth with skeletal pararendzina in some places. This soil, with a higher content of active lime, is richer in nutrients. Wines from this track are fruit and mineral, also expressing noble botrytis in appropriate years.
The vineyard track is situated on a south-facing slope at the foot of the Pálava Hills, above the road connecting Perná and Klentnice. A greater part is planted on terraces. The soil situated on this track is a thin layer of black carbonate earth with skeletal pararendzina in some places. This means that the soil has a high content of active lime and is poorer in nutrients. Wines from this track are markedly mineral and structured in layers.
This vineyard is the next section of the Železná track towards Klentnice, naturally bounded by Perná Cauldron. This location is south-facing and is situated at a higher altitude just below the peaks of the Pálava Hills. The soil consists of a thin layer of black carbonate earth with skeletal pararendzina in some places. This means that this is high active lime soil, poorer in nutrients. The track has excellent preconditions for noble botrytis and brings forth wines that cannot be mistaken.
The vineyard covers the peak of this hill from the east-facing foot to the western plateau. A greater thickness with a shallow layer of black earth is characteristic of the soil. There is a deep loess layer under the black earth, with a higher portion of clayey and marl particles. The subsoil has a high content of active lime, which fundamentally influences the nature of grapes and makes it possible to produce spicy and subtly mineral wines.
This vineyard, oriented to the west, is situated in the lower and middle parts of the Dunajovice Hills. The soil consists of a layer of pelic black earth with loess subsoil and also with sandy subsoil in the lower part of the hill. The location is very warm and retains heat. Combined with a high content of lime, this gives wines their mineral taste that cannot be mistaken, length, interesting aroma, and structure.
The vineyard is situated in the medium and top parts of the Dunajovice Hills and is oriented to the southwest. The topsoil is high active lime pelic black earth with loess and clayey subsoil. The soil retains heat, and this, along with the orientation of the track, results in very good ripening. The vineyard brings forth fruit and mineral wines with its excellent width, structure and persistence.
The vineyard is situated in the middle and top parts of the Dunajovice Hills, oriented to the southwest. The top layer of the soil is pelic black earth with gravel-like subsoil, interwoven with sand and clay with a high content of active lime. This location is very warm, and thus, vines suffer from stress in dry summer. Combining these attributes brings forth wines with stony and mineral flavours that cannot be mistaken.
This south-facing vineyard is situated in the middle and top parts of this track. The top part of the soil is pelic black earth. The subsoil consists of loess and clay on the limestone skeleton. The soil contains a higher amount of active lime. The location is very warm. Combined with its limestone soil, this imparts a characteristic smell, mineral taste and rich structure to wines.
This south-facing vineyard is situated in the middle part of Ořechová hora (the Nut Hill). The soil is thicker, and its top layer consists of rich black earth. The subsoil combines loess and limestone clay with a high content of active lime. The track is less airy and supports the formation of noble botrytis in favourable years. Wines from this location are fruit and mineral, showing a pleasant Noble Rot flavour.
This vineyard is situated in a flat location, moderately sloping towards the southwest. The climatic conditions feature a colder spring and a very warm summer with higher night temperatures. The vineyard has arenic black earth, which is black earth formed on sandy and grave-like subsoil with a slightly acid effect of the soil caused by a higher sand and sandy gravel content. They warm up in the daytime and warm the grapes during the night. This process produces very expressive wines; their aromas cannot be mistaken.
